Description

This role is based in the UK at our Cambridge site.  Agenus is an immuno-oncology company delivering innovative treatments for patients with cancer. We have a unique portfolio of antibodiesvaccinescell therapies (through our AgenTus Therapeutics subsidiary) and adjuvants designed to treat cancers with optimal combinations. We believe that a deep understanding of each patient’s cancer and our broad range of therapeutic approaches will be key drivers of success in substantially expanding the patient population benefiting from current immuno-oncology therapies.

In addition to our broad portfolio, we have an accomplished team of scientists, novel technology platforms and end-to-end capabilities from new target discovery to GMP manufacturing. Based in Cambridge, our UK labs provide platform innovation, antibody discovery and protein sciences and are focused on reducing discovery timelines to support the Agenus pipeline and deliver on our belief that patients deserve the best cancer treatments in the shortest possible time.

We are constantly seeking to expand our capabilities with novel and improved methods for the discovery of the next generation of antibody therapeutics. To support this goal, we have an opportunity for an intern to fill a 6-month position exploring the use of cellular libraries for antibody discovery and optimization. The candidate will work closely with experts in the fields of molecular biology, cell culture and antibody screening gaining experience across these disciplines.

With significant support and guidance you will:

  • Use molecular biology techniques to generate antibody expression libraries and tools
  • Culture and maintain cell lines for antibody expression
  • Compare various techniques for DNA delivery to expression cells
  • Contribute to the development of improved platform methods for the discovery of novel antibody therapeutics

Skills and Experience

Full training and support is available and all candidates with demonstrated proficiency in a life science laboratory, a can-do attitude, and enthusiasm for working in biotech are encouraged to apply. Any of the following would be an advantage but are not essential:

  • Experience using standard molecular biology techniques to manipulate DNA
  • Experience of cell culture, especially for the expression of recombinant proteins
  • Protein screening techniques such as ELISA or flow cytometry
