Research & Evaluation Officer

The Research & Evaluation Officer will have the opportunity to work with Careers Hubs across the country who are engaged in testing approaches to careers education through our Hubs Incubation Projects fund. Other forthcoming projects include stakeholder surveys and case study development. 

The Research team leads on measuring the impact of the changing careers system on young people and building evidence on effective practice in schools, colleges and businesses. The evidence we produce informs national policy and practice. We are seeking an early career professional to provide support across a wide range of research, evaluation and data projects.

Tasks will include designing survey questionnaires, collecting, managing and analysing data, and writing reports for internal and external audiences.

The successful candidate will work closely with researchers and data specialists within the Data and Digital Directorate and engage frequently with colleagues across the company.

Role Summary
At The Careers & Enterprise Company, evidence plays a key role in supporting effective, impactful careers education. The Research team leads on measuring the impact of the changing careers system on young people and building evidence on effective practice in schools, colleges and businesses. The evidence we produce informs national policy and practice. We are seeking an early career professional to provide support across a wide range of research, evaluation and data projects.

Key Responsibilities
The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Delivering stakeholder surveys, including designing questions collaboratively, programming surveys, communications, data management and analysis.
• Designing processes for collecting and managing data, for example on the evaluation of Careers Leader Training.
• Analysing data collected from schools and colleges about the quality of careers provision and student outcomes.
• Writing reports for internal and external audiences.
• Building a culture of evidence within the company by engaging colleagues on data and evidence to support their work.
• Building relationships with external partners and identify opportunities for collaboration.
• Representing the Company externally through events and presentations.

Qualifications and experience required

Essential:
• Degree in a relevant quantitative or social science discipline.
• Experience of data collection, management and analysis.
• Experience of conducting evaluation and research projects.
• Experience of using relevant data management and analytical packages e.g. Excel, SPSS.

Desirable:
• Knowledge of the education system in England.
• Experience of writing outputs to a high standard for policy and practitioner audiences.
